Preventing Dents in Winter Weather

At Dynamic Dent Auto Hail Solutions, located in Lewisville, Texas, we have already had bouts of winter temperatures. While temperatures in Texas don’t often get below freezing, it’s important to be weather aware and take necessary precautions to protect yourself and your vehicle. If ice and snow do find their way to our area of North Texas, here are ways to reduce the risk of denting your vehicle:

Tire Tread

The first thing you will want to do is check the treads on your tires. This should be done BEFORE the winter weather hits. If there is any sort of ice on the road, bad treads on tires will increase your chances of slipping and crashing into barriers.

Fog Lights

If you find yourself in fog, be sure to turn on your fog lights, or low lights. This may seem like common sense, but if you do not turn them on other drivers will not be able to see you and you could find yourself in an unfortunate collision.

Know Your Route

It is important to plan out the route you are going to be taking before your leave your current location. Ice can build up overnight (or throughout the day depending on the temperature), so it is important to keep aware and know which roadways will be clear. This will prevent you from slipping on the roads and causing damage to yourself or your vehicle.

Remove Snow

As snow comes down, if your vehicle is parked outside snow will gather and accumulate on it. Large pieces of ice can be sharp and severely damage your vehicle. To prevent damage to your vehicle be sure to push off any excess snow.

4 Benefits of Paintless Dent Repair

What is Paintless Dent Repair (PDR)?

PDR is the process of repairing dents related to damage on your vehicle. A highly trained PDR technician will use a set of unique tools designed to access the dent/s from the backside of the metal panel and then slowly massage and push, reshaping the dented panel and restoring the area to its pre-damaged condition.

Dents can show up in all shapes and sizes. You could walk out of work and find door dings, hail damage, or even larger dents from a collision. At Dynamic Dent Solutions, located in Lewisville, Texas, we specialize in outstanding customer service, quality work, and PDR.

But what makes PDR so great? Here are 4 reasons PDR will work for you:

1. Repair Any Dent

PDR can repair all dents and dings. If you were recently in an accident or hail came rolling through, PDR will work for you. Through PDR’s ultimate restoration, you can know your vehicle is repaired to its original strength. Over time, those dents will not be coming back.

2. Cost-Effective

Traditional dent repair fixes the dent and then paints over it. This lowers the overall value of your vehicle. Service costs are generally lower with PDR, and the value of your vehicle is maintained because the original paint job remains intact.

3, Saves You Time

PDR is a relatively quick process. Your vehicle could be repaired in a matter of hours. This saves you time because your get your vehicle back quicker. PDR allows minimal disruption to your daily routine.

4. Environmentally Friendly

When traditional dent removal methods are used, paint thinner, paint, body filler, and other materials are used. PDR does not require any of that. This drastically reduces the amount of toxins workers are exposed to, and it lowers the toxins released to the environment.

Protecting Your Car From Hail Damage

Oh no! You’ve checked the radar, and a storm with potential hail is coming! You don’t have a garage or carport to store your car. What do you do? How can you protect your car?

Large Buildings

Have any large buildings nearby? If the storm is approaching from the west, try parking your car on the east side of the building. Basically, you are using the coverage from the building to hopefully alleviate the worst of the storm. If the wind is strong, the building may completely shield your car from the damage of the storm.

Blankets or Car Covers

Old blankets will work in a pinch. Lay them over your car and tape them down with duct tape. Just be careful where you put the tape. You don’t want the tape leaving any residue behind in unwanted places. With enough advance warning, or if you live in a hail prone region, you may benefit from purchasing a car cover.

Covered Public Parking

As you are out and about it may benefit you to keep an eye out for any sort of covered public parking. Look for shopping center or mall parking garages. If the hail gets to you before you make it to the parking garage, look for any sort of shelter (i.e. gas station canopy, overpass).

If none of the options pan out and you do end up with hail damage, do not despair! Dynamic Dent Auto Hail Solutions in Lewisville, Texas is here for you. How to Spot Hail Damage

Living in North Texas means you see your fair share of hail in the weather. At Dynamic Dent Auto Hail Solutions we specialize in repairing your hail damaged vehicle with our simple process with guaranteed results. One of the largest benefits to repairing hail damage, in addition to aesthetics, is resale value. If it has been hailing it is important to be able to spot and properly identify hail damage to your vehicle, so you can get it repaired properly.

Dents

Dents are the first thing to look for if you suspect hail damage to your vehicle. Dents can be located anywhere, but specifically check the trunk, doors and sides of the vehicle, and the hood. Any dent, major or minor, could be from the hail storm. You should also double check doorjambs. If the doorjamb is stuck or dented, that could also be a result of hail damage.

Cracked Glass

Secondly, check for broken or cracked glass. The most obvious glass to check would be the windshield, but be sure to inspect the windows and mirrors as well. Severely cracked glass can shatter while you are in the vehicle posing a safety risk to you and your passengers. It also impairs your vision while driving.

Mirrors

Lastly, check your mirrors. Are they still there? Depending on the severity of the hail storm, the hail may have knocked your side mirrors off. If your mirrors are still there, check the joints to make sure they are still properly attached to your vehicle. You absolutely do not want your mirrors shaking or falling off while you are driving down the road.
